Trimble takes seat in House of Lords
Former UUP leader David Trimble has today officially taken his seat in the House of Lords.
Mr Trimble, who was appointed to the position in April, is now to be known as Lord Trimble of Lisnagarvey.
Lord Trimble was one of four new peers from Northern Ireland created on the last working peers list in April.
Lord Trimble was today introduced to the Upper House by his two sponsors, Lord Rogan and Lord Steinberg.
Also taking their seats in the House of Lord's were former DUP Lord Mayor of Belfast, Wallace Browne, DUP party chairman Maurice Morrow and DUP leader Ian Paisley's wife, Eileen, who will from now on be known as Baroness Paisley of St George's after the ward which elected her to Belfast City Council in the 1960's.
The three DUP members are the first from the party to ever take seats in the House of Lords.

DUP electoral challenge brought to House of Lords
The House of Lords has heard that the election of David Trimble and Mark Durkan as First and Deputy First Minister of the Northern Ireland Executive last November was “invalid”. The Democratic Unionist Party is challenging the election of Mr Trimble and Mark Durkan claiming they took place outside a designated six-week period.

The wife of Ulster Unionist Party leader David Trimble is set to stand as a UUP candidate for Lagan Valley. Daphne Trimble said she wanted to contest the seat, which is currently held by former UUP stalwart Jeffrey Donaldson, because it was a traditional "Ulster Unionist seat and the people have always been represented by Ulster Unionists".

Unionist awarded seats in House of Lords
The wife of DUP leader, the Rev Ian Paisley has today been named as one of the first three peers ever to be appointed from the Democratic Unionist Party to the House of Lords. Eileen Paisley, along with DUP member Maurice Morrow and current Lord Mayor of Belfast Wallace Browne will all take their seats on the benches of the House later today.
