Almost 60-people sacked from Derry firm
Fifty-six people have been fired from a medical packaging firm in Londonderry.
It has been reported that the employees were dismissed from the Perfecseal firm, following a dispute between management and workers, when staff supported unofficial industrial action at the company's plant in the Springtown industrial estate.
A statement released by the company said: "Perfecseal Limited wish to confirm that industrial action taken by a small number of their employees is unofficial and unlawful."
It is understood that management told a number of workers on Tuesday that they could not hold a union meeting during working hours.
When staff delayed their return to work, the company began disciplinary proceedings.
Perfecseal manufactures specialised packaging systems for pharmaceutical companies worldwide.

Earlier this year, the Minister provided funding to successfully resolve the long-running industrial dispute over teachers' pay for 2021-24.

NIHE Building Firm In Administration
A building firm which carried out repair work for the Northern Ireland Housing Executive (NIHE) has gone into administration. According to the Belfast Telegraph, Mel Davison Construction said increased financial pressures were to blame for the move. The Belfast and Portadown-based company currently employs around 150 staff.
