Fast food van robbed at knifepoint
Police in Downpatrick are appealing for information after an armed robbery yesterday evening.
Just before 8.30pm, two men, one armed with a knife, approached a fast food van on the Dundrum Road in Newcastle.
The men threatened staff and demanded that they hand over a sum of cash.
The robbers then fled in what is thought to be a gold coloured, old style Caviller type car, which was later discovered abandoned by the PSNI.
No one was injured during the incident, however staff were left shaken by the ordeal.
One of the robbers is described as being around 6 feet tall and of thin build.
He was wearing a dark grey coloured jacket, jeans and a hat.
The second man is described as being around 5'7 in height, and was wearing a navy zipped up top, tracksuit bottoms and a baseball cap with a New York logo on the front.
One man has been arrested in connection with the robbery and is currently helping police with their inquiries.
Detectives have asked for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, especially anyone who was in the nearby Burndale Estate at the time, to contact them on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
