Devices recovered in north Belfast
Police have recovered pipe bombs and detonators during a search in north Belfast.
Four pipe bombs, a number of detonators and a quantity of ammunition were found during the searches which were carried out in the vicinity of an electricity sub-station on the Deerpark Road in the north of the city, yesterday afternoon.
Army Technical Officers carried out a clearance operation before the items were taken away for forensic examination.
A PSNI spokesperson said: "Pipe bombs are lethal devices which have the ability to cause grievous injury or take life. The local community in north Belfast is much safer as a result of the seizure, and this must be welcomed by everyone. The Police Service is tackling, and will continue to tackle, all crime where it occurs."
Police said that no arrests were made.

Two viable pipe bombs have been found in the New Lodge area of north Belfast. A security alert was sparked in the Churchill Street area at around 1pm on Wednesday, 22 August. Army bomb disposal experts carried out controlled explosions and they were declared viable devices. The alert has now ended and residents have returned to their homes.

Two pipe bombs defused in north Belfast
Army technical experts have defused two pipe bombs discovered in north Belfast last night. Police said that one of the pipe bombs was found at around 10.30pm on Wednesday night near the junction of the Westland and Cavehill roads in north Belfast. The second device was discovered at Alliance Avenue at 12.45am this morning.

Loyalists have again been blamed for the latest violence and pipe bomb explosions in north Belfast. Following trouble earlier in the day during which a police officer was injured two pipe bombs exploded at Hallidays Road shortly after 11pm on Tuesday October 16.

Component Parts For Pipe Bombs Found In North Belfast
Several component parts for pipe bombs have been discovered during a security alert in north Belfast, according to the police. The parts were found in a bag in the Etna Street area on Wednesday, 15 June. A number of controlled explosions were carried out by army bomb experts. They have been removed for examination.

Suburban Glengormley returned to normal yesterday evening after the Army dealt with a pipe bomb in Harmin Park. The PSNI helicopter was overhead of the Newtownabbey district - close to north Belfast - for most of Monday afternoon and some residents were asked to leave their homes, while the examination was carried out.
