Campaign launched to save school
A campaign is to be launched today to save an east Belfast Secondary school from being closed.
Lisnasharragh High School, which the late soccer legend George Best attended, is one of four schools proposed for closure.
The South Eastern Education and Library Board has blamed a decline in enrolment numbers for the move, however campaigner claim that the SEELB's figures were "arbitrary" and that criteria was different to that used when judging other schools under different education boards.
A past pupil of Lisnasharragh High School and campaign organiser said that the attempt to close the school flies in the face of the views of parents, staff and pupils and added that the school has served the community for over 50 years, has an excellent record of meeting the educational needs of local children and has provided a focal point for the neighbourhood.
The campaigner added that the community is not prepared to accept the closure and is intended to send a message to the board stating that parents, staff and pupils will fight for the future education of their children.

Heavy Snow Closes Over 80 Schools
Over 80 schools across Northern Ireland have been closed as the heavy snow continues to cause disruption on Tuesday morning. The Met Office has issued a yellow weather warning, as the snow is continuing to affect many roads. Areas which have been majorly disrupted include Lisburn, Castlereagh and Carryduff.
