£6m Securicor investment biggest in Ireland
A £6 million Securicor Cash Services Supercentre - the biggest commercial security investment in Ireland to date – has been opened in Mallusk in north Belfast.
The 5.6 acre facility will initially accommodate 300 staff who will provide cash management services for the company’s 300 regional customers.
John Campbell, Project Manager, said: “This project represents a significant investment in our Ireland operation and is designed to provide a high-quality working environment for our staff and improved customer service. The construction of a Supercentre with the flexibility to offer a wide range of services, will further aid Securicor Cash Services to lead the cash solutions market."
In addition, the centre, which co-locates Securicor Cash Services and Cash Centres, also provides a Northern Ireland head office for Securicor Security.
The design is based on the first Supercentre, which was opened in Manchester in early 2002. The facility incorporates the following latest security measures: a central control room at the heart of the branch, 220 CCTV cameras throughout the site, anti-helicopter wire, computerised vehicle and personnel access, a fingerprint controlled access system to secure areas and perimeter security.

Industry urges NI to ‘play safe’ with cash cards
Cash machine users were today advised to keep playing safe when making cash withdrawals, despite fraudulent cash withdrawals in Northern Ireland falling by 8% to £368,000 over the past year. However, despite a fall in Northern Ireland figures the rest of the UK saw an average rise of 85% in fraudulent cash withdrawals over the same period.

SF Calls For Action On NI Mental Health Services
Sinn Féin has called for more to be done to improve mental health services across the north of Ireland. The party's mental health spokesperson, MLA Órlaithí Flynn, made the call after the release of the Registrar General's 2023 Annual Report which has highlighted an increase in deaths by suicide in 2023.

Electric Ireland Enters NI Electricity Market
Electric Ireland, part of ESB, has entered into the Northern Ireland electricity market, and has also pledged to create 45 new jobs. A total of 30 new jobs are already in place, and the firm plans to create another 15 in early 2016. The plans are part of a £5 million investment.
