Children approached under suspicious circumstances
Police in west Belfast have appealed for information after a child was approached by a man under suspicious circumstances at the weekend.
The incident happened at around 4.50pm on Saturday, when a nine-year-old boy was walking towards his home along Riverdale Park East.
A man, aged in his early thirties approached the child, and began to shout abuse before making several attempts to grab him.
The boy walked off, however the man followed, only changing his direction when a car pulled up alongside.
The man made his escape in the direction of the Andersonstown Road.
He is described as being between 5ft 6ins and 5ft 8 in height, of thin build, with a pale complexion and sunken eyes.
He is said to have dark hair with grey flecks and was wearing glasses, beige trousers and a navy canvas jacket.
Meanwhile, in a separate incident in Londonderry, parents have been warned to keep an eye on their children after an attempted abduction on Saturday evening.
A five and a six-year-old girl were playing outside their homes in the Leenan Gardens area of the city at around 8pm on Saturday, when three men in a small blue car pulled up alongside them and asked them to get in.
Th girls managed to escaped unharmed.
The driver of the car is described as having dark hair and was wearing glasses.
Anyone who may have witnessed either incident, or who may have any information relating to them, are asked to contact police on 0845 600 8000, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.

Man Shot In County Down
A 28-year-old man has been shot in the leg in a gun attack in County Down. The man was getting out of his car at the Quays in Killyleagh at about 1.00am on Wednesday morning when a man approached him and shot him. The man is recovering in hospital where his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.

Child Suspiciously Approached In Co Tyrone
Police are appealing for information after a 6-year-old girl was suspiciously approached in Dungannon, Co Tyrone. The incident happened in the Windmill Court area at around 9.30pm on Thursday, 26 January. A man spoke to the girl, however a relation interrupted and took her home.

'Copter Car Chase A dramatic high-speed car chase involving a police helicopter ended as three men were arrested after a vehicle failed to stop for police on the M1 in Northern Ireland. Their car was abandoned in the village of Maghaberry and officers, assisted by the police helicopter, soon arrested one man in his 20s shortly.

Two pensioners targeted in separate robberies
Two elderly women are recovering today after separate robbery attacks in counties Down and Antrim at the weekend. In the first incident in Co Down, a woman in her eighties was awoken at around 4am on Saturday to find a masked man, armed with a knife, in the bedroom of her Donaghadee home.

Man Arrested In Connection With Dromara Assault
A 22-year-old man has been arrested in connection with a report of an assault at licenced premises at the Rathfriland Road area of Dromara. Detective Inspector Bell said: "Shortly before 10:10pm on Friday 15th December, it was reported that an altercation occurred at a bar in the area following three men refused entry to the premises.
