Shotgun fired during Londonderry car chase
Police in Londonderry are appealing for witnesses to a shooting incident and a subsequent car chase in Derry City last night.
At around 9.45pm a red coloured Peugeot 306 pulled alongside a blue car approaching the Culmore Road roundabout on the Madamsbank Road. When the cars stopped a man in the passenger seat of the Peugeot fired a shot from what is believed to have been a shotgun towards the blue car.
The blue car then drove off along the Culmore Road pursued at speed by the red Peugeot. At the junction of Buncrana Road, the blue car was forced to stop and the passenger of the Peugeot then discharged a second shot, which struck the blue car shattering the rear windscreen.
It is understood that no one was injured in the shooting.
The occupants of the red Peugeot then collided with a bus and a number of other vehicles as it sped off along the Buncrana Road.
A red Peugeot was later found burnt out on the Upper Galiagh Road at around 1.30am.
Police have appealed for anyone who witnessed any of the incidents or has any information to contact detectives at Strand Road on 028 7136 7337 or call Crimestoppers on 0800 555111.
