Police searches in money laundering probe
Police on both sides of the border have carried out a number of searches on homes and businesses during a planned police operation by detectives investigating money-laundering and related activities.
Detectives from the Financial Investigations Unit of the PSNI were involved in the searches at premises in Belfast, Ballymena, Lisburn and Bangor.
It is understood that the investigation is the latest stage of a police investigation dating back several months.
Searches were also carried out at around 20 premises in County Dublin and Wicklow, as well as at properties in both England and Scotland.
A PSNI spokesperson today said that the raids were carried out in association with the Criminal Assets Bureau in Dublin, Cumbria Police in England, and assisted by the Serious Organised Crime Agency and Drugs Enforcement Agency of Scotland.
It has been reported that one man, believed to come from Northern Ireland, has been arrested.
