Three released after school shooting
A 13-year-old boy was among three people released on bail pending further enquiries after a shooting at a County Antrim school yesterday afternoon.
The schoolboy was the first to be arrested after an air rifle was fired into the playground of Dunclug College at lunchtime.
Police said a man in his 40s and a 17-year-old male were detained for questioning about the same incident.
Police do not suspect a sectarian motive.
The school Principal Ruth Wilson said approximately 30 to 40 children were in the playground at the time of the shooting and at least one pellet hit the gym door.
Wilson said: "We immediately cleared the playground without panic and thankfully, to our knowledge, no-one was hurt.
"We believe the pellet was fired from outside the school fence from the direction of the Doury Road estate. There is no evidence to suggest they were firing towards any child."
None of the children went home after the incident and none are believed to have suffered shock or trauma.
