Child dies in County Armagh bus tragedy

A nine-year-old girl has died following a road traffic accident in County Armagh.

It is understood that the child, who has been named as Jessica Lennon, had just got off a school-bus yards from her home in the High Street area of Bessbrook at around 3.15pm yesterday afternoon, when she was struck by the bus.

A spokesperson for Translink today said that the company will be working in conjunction with the PSNI to conduct a full and thorough investigation into this “tragic accident.”

Police in Bessbrook have asked for anyone who witnessed the incident and has not yet spoken to them, should contact detectives at Newry station on 028 30 265500, or anonymously on the Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
