Government announce funding boost for 'New Life counselling'
The New Life Counselling Service in North Belfast is to benefit from £175,000 from the Department for Social Development it has today been revealed.
The funding has been provided by the Department’s Belfast Regeneration Office, through the Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy.
New Life Counselling provides a broad range of counselling services to clients suffering from such conditions as depression, stress and bereavement.
These services are available to everyone living in the Crumlin Road/Ardoyne area.
The money will be used to refurbish and extend the organisation’s North Belfast premises.
Announcing the funding, Social Development Minister David Hanson said: “New Life Counselling provides a professional advice and counselling service within the Neighbourhood Renewal area of Crumlin Road/Ardoyne in North Belfast. The upgrade of the premises will allow the group to better meet the increasing demand for its services from both sides of the local community.
“This project meets the objectives of the Government's Neighbourhood Renewal Strategy: to give people in disadvantaged areas the infrastructure, skills and support that will enable them to improve their quality of life and prospects for the future.”
