Barcelona to face Derry City in friendly match
Spanish football giants Barcelona have agreed to play a friendly match against League of Ireland side Derry City.
The fixture – which was organised following a meeting between representatives of the Catalonia club and the SDLP's John Hume – is likely to be a huge money-spinner for Derry who have faced major financial difficulties over the past number of years.
The game is expected to take place during the summer pre-season months, hopefully enabling the club to bring a number of their major star's including Marc Overmars and Patrick Kluivert.
The arrival of Barcelona will follow that of Manchester United, Celtic and fellow Spanish club Real Madrid who have played at the Brandywell in the past few years.
