Homes evacuated during factory fire
Around 100 people have been evacuated from their north Belfast homes, following a suspected arson attack at a derelict factory.
The blaze is understood to have started at the disused building in Sidney Street West in the Shankill area of the city at around 1am.
Residents of around 30 properties were forced to leave their homes and were evacuated to the nearby Indian Community Centre on Clifton Street.
Around eight fire appliances an 70 fire-fighters were in attendance and after some time were able to bring the flames under control. No one was injured during the incident, however minor damage was caused to the windows and guttering of three adjacent properties.
During the fire, police warned residents in nearby streets to stay indoors and keep windows closed, however this has since been lifted.
The cause of the fire has not yet been established, and police are to investigate the circumstances surrounding the cause of the fire.

Shankill families evacuated from homes due to nearby fire
Around 40 people have had to spend a night out of their homes following a fire at a lock-up garage in the Shankill area of west Belfast. The fire led to gas cylinders in the garage overheating to the point firefighters feared they could explode.

NIFRS Launches Online Home Fire Safety Check Tool
The Northern Ireland Fire & Rescue Service (NIFRS) has introduced a new online tool to help residents assess their home fire safety. The Home Fire Safety Check coincides with Fire Safety Week, which runs from September 30th to October 6th. The initiative aims to reduce the number of house fires in Northern Ireland.
