County Tyrone man convicted of benefit fraud
A County Tyrone man has been convicted of benefit fraud.
John Finlay, 52, of Seein Road, Sion Mills , appeared at Omagh Magistrates’ Court yesterday charged with obtaining benefits to which he was not entitled.
Mr Finlay was fined £300 for claiming Job Seeker’s Allowance to the value of £5,094 while failing to disclose his savings. It is understood that he has already repaid the money he fraudulently claimed in full.
This is the 48th conviction secured so far this year by the Social Security Agency in its campaign against benefit fraud.

Attempted Carjacking In West Belfast
Police are investigating an attempted carjacking in west Belfast on Tuesday, November 19th. At around 5:30pm, a man entered a parked car at Hillhead Court and attempted to steal it. A woman passenger was assaulted when she resisted the man's demands. The suspect, described as a man in his 20s wearing all black, fled the scene on foot.

Man Dies After Bus Fall In Belfast
Detectives are investigating the death of an 80-year-old man who fell from a bus in Belfast. Police have said that they believe the man was travelling on a 2J Translink Metro bus service at around 11:15am on Friday, 08 November, when he suffered a fall as the bus travelled along Royal Avenue, near it's junction with North Street.

Man Extradited From Ireland To Face Serious Charges
A 33-year-old man has been extradited from Northern Ireland to the Republic of Ireland to face serious charges. The man is accused of assault causing harm, coercive control, contravention of a safety order, theft, and possession of a weapon. The alleged offences occurred in the Monaghan area between 2020 and 2021.
