Sex offender 'on run' detained by police
A high-risk sex offender who was believed to be on the run in Northern Ireland has been detained by police in Londonderry.
Neal Daniel Lynch, 29, originally from County Donegal, has been convicted of a string of serious sexual offences in the Republic, and his disappearance prompted the police to issue a public warning.
It is believed he presented himself to the police and has been remanded in custody.
Earlier today it was reported that Mr Lynch claimed he had contacted police to confirm his whereabouts, and was told to phone back the following day.

Two police officers have been disciplined after they failed to let their colleagues and a police doctor know that a woman had sustained a head injury, a Police Ombudsman investigation has concluded. The woman died from bleeding to the brain on 24 February 2014, the day after she suffered the injury.

The PSNI have issued an appeal for information over an incident at Lagan Valley Hospital in Lisburn in February. Police believed the attack involved up to five people on the morning of Tuesday, 27 February. Police are keen to speak to anyone who was in the hospital's A&E department and observed anything on the morning in question.

Man shot in west Belfast
A man has been wounded in a gun attack at a house in west Belfast. A police spokesperson said that a caller to the house in Hawthorn Street had produced a gun and shot the man in the side. An ambulance was called to the scene, however the man was not taken to hospital. His injuries have been described as minor.

Man Arrested Over Murder Of George Gilmore
A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police investigating the murder of George Gilmore. Mr Gilmore, aged 44, was shot in the neck in Carrickfergus on Monday, 13 March. He died from his injuries in hospital the following day, 14 March. The suspect was detained in Co Antrim on Wednesday, 12 April, and is being questioned at Musgrave police station.
