City council ask for feedback on how to spend £25 million
Belfast City Council has today asked for feedback from the public as to how they should spend £25 million, transforming 200 acres of wasteland on the shores of Belfast Lough.
The City Council is to bid for funding from the Big Lottery Fund in order to build a revolutionary recreational space - to be known as Giant's Park on the north foreshore of the lough, however the council is encouraging the public to put forward ideas as to what exactly should be built.
Maria-Therese McGivern, director of development at the council said: "People from all walks of life are invited to tell us about the leisure, culture and environmental and educational facilities they would like to see featured at Giant's Park for the benefit of all communities.”
The Giant's Park is one of 23 projects throughout the UK short-listed for a piece of £140 million worth of funding to be made available through the Big Lottery Fund's Living Landmarks programme - which will provide individual grants of up to £25 million.

Arts Council grant £5.7 million in core funding
The Arts Council has awarded grants totalling more £5.7 million to 113 arts organisations throughout Northern Ireland. This year, projects received £80,000 more than in 2001 in spite of the total annual budget for the Arts Council falling from an initial figure of £7.4 million.

Arts Council Reveals Breakdown Of Reduced Funding
Twenty seven different organisations and events have had their funding cut as the Arts Council of Northern Ireland implements 11.2% cuts, passed on to it as part of the 2015/16 budget. Of the 115 applications received by the Arts Council, six requests were turned down completely.

Arts funding awards rise by a quarter
The Arts Council has today allocated more than £7.1 million to 129 arts organisations throughout Northern Ireland – almost £1.5 million, or 25% up on last year. Art Council Chairman Prof Brian Walker described the funding round as designed to "strengthen those organisations which are the backbone of the arts" in Northern Ireland.

Local economic development receives £52m boost
Economic development throughout Northern Ireland is set to benefit from a joint EU and district council funding package of £52 million. The EU has pledged a £26 million funding package for district councils, and that amount will be matched by a further £26 million from the 26 district councils over a four-year period.
