Shots fired at north Belfast house
A number of shots have been fired at a house in the Ardoyne area of north Belfast.
The incident occurred last night at around 9.50pm.
Shots had been fired directly at a 20-year-old woman, and a bullet shattered the bedroom window of her younger sister, aged 8.
Two males were seen outside the house, at Cranbrook Court where the girl’s eight-year-old sister had been. The child had been sent to bed, but had come downstairs because eshe was feeling unwell, when a bullet smashed the window.
There were no injuries.
A car belonging to the family, was also damaged by two shotgun blasts.
Police are still working to establish a motive for the attack. However, it is not thought to be linked to paramilitaries.
Local priest Father Aidan Troy comforted the family after the attack.
He told reporters: “The adults were absolutely trembling – I just felt so sorry for them.”
Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on the Antrim Road on 0845 600 8000 or phone the confidential Crimestoppers number on 0800 555 111.
