Mother and daughter die in road crash
A road traffic accident in Co Down has claimed the lives of a woman and her seven-year-old daughter.
The accident occurred on the Comber Road at its junction with Landsdowne Road in Newtownards at around 5pm yesterday.
Seven other people, including the dead woman's teenage daughter and her son, are being treated for their injuries in hospital although they are not thought to be serious.
The Comber Road will be closed until later today and the police have appealed for anyone who witnessed the accident to contact them.

A man has died in a workplace accident in Co Armagh. It is believed the man was crushed by a road roller while a new road surface was being laid on the Bog Road, Forkhill, on Wednesday, 31 May. Police and the Health and Safety Executive have launched an investigation.

On average, one person loses their life on Northern Ireland's roads every week, with 57 fatalities recorded so far this year.
