Two arrests in Belfast murder investigation

Two arrests have been made following police investigations into the deaths of Joseph Jones and Edward Burns.

Police have confirnmed that a man and a woman are assisting detectives with their enquiries. They have not been arrested on suspicion of murder.

Edward Burns, 36, from Ardoyne was found with a bullet wound to the head in a car park near St Gall’s GAA club on 12 March.

The body of Mr Jones, 38, from Poleglass was discovered near Elmfield Street in Ardoyne on the same day.

Double 'Dissident' Murder: Woman Arrested
A woman has been arrested by detectives investigating the brutal murders of two men in Belfast. A police spokesperson said the 22-year-old was today being questioned at Antrim police station. The body of Edward Burns, 36, who was shot in the head, was found near the Falls Road and the beaten body of Joe Jones, 38, was discovered in Ardoyne.

Four Men Arrested In Connection With Lyra McKee Murder
Four men have been arrested in connection with the murder of journalist Lyra McKee. Ms McKee was fatally shot as she observed rioting in L'Derry in April 2019. She was 29 years old. Police investigating her death have arrested four men, aged 19, 20, 21 and 33, under the Terrorism Act.
