Healy hat-trick seals qualifier win

A David Healy hat-trick inside 30 minutes play in the second-half saw Northern Ireland defeat Liechtenstein 4-1 in their Euro 2008 qualifier.

Healy scored at 52 minutes after the Liechtenstein keeper blocked a shot from Kyle Lafferty.

Healy's second goal came 22 minutes later from a Keith Gillespie pass and the Leeds striker found the net again, just 8 minutes later, from a Steve Davis pass.

Despite a wobbly start by NI against the home side in Vaduz - in the first-half they faced a dangerous looking, fast-breaking side - it was not until the 90th minute that Liechtenstein's Franz Burgmeier replied after Mario Frick set up the pass.

But it was Grant McCann who headed in a Gillespie cross to take the final scoreline to 4-1.

Healy is now assured a place in the record books as he is the only Northern Ireland player to score two hat-tricks.

Gillispie, who was booked, will miss the Sweden match.

Liechtenstein 1 - N Ireland 4.
