Shoppers given ‘MoreTime’ in Belfast
Belfast City Council is rolling out the red carpet for shoppers on Wednesday 4 April in celebration of one year of extended shopping.
The event, in association with Translink, Roads Service and PSNI, will host an array of entertainment to promote the city.
The Cool FM road show will be broadcast live from the city centre, circus school acts including acrobatic double acts, stilt walkers, musicians, face painters and jugglers will all be performing and jazz artists will be playing live music on the streets.
Shops such as Eason, Pretty Woman, Boots, Bhs, Marks and Spencer, Zara and Alex Mekki Hairdressers will also be surprising shoppers with special discounts, gift vouchers, free coffee and hair and beauty makeovers.
Local restaurants and bars The Basement, Queens Café Bar and McCrackens will also be offering complimentary light bites with every bottle of house red or white wine.
Councillor Diane Dodds, Chair of the Tourism and Promotion of Belfast Sub-Committee, welcomed the event as an opportunity to showcase the city centre.
“This special evening is a great opportunity for visitors, residents, students and workers to enjoy the city centre in the evening,” she said.
“Belfast City is renowned for its wide range of shops, department stores and specialist outlets. It also has a fantastic selection of restaurants serving international cuisine, a great selection of bars, an exciting calendar of culture and arts events in its theatres and concert halls and a wide genre of live music from small intimate gigs to world class concerts.”
