Local lecturers strike over pay
Lecturers across Northern Ireland are taking strike action as part of a long-running dispute over pay.
It is the seventh strike by the 16 Further Education colleges who are seeking pay parity between lecturers and school teachers.
The action began last year when lecturers demanded parity with teachers in schools, who are paid around £3,500 more a year.
Last month, however, a Whitehall Committee rejected the union’s attempts to relax the cap on public sector pay.
