Sanchez to caretake at struggling Fulham
Lawrie Sanchez is to take over at Fulham as caretaker manager following the sacking of Chris Coleman on Tuesday.
Sanchez, who is Northern Ireland manager, will still fulfil his role as the regional football manager.
IFA Chief Executive Howard Wells said that Sanchez’s decision to take on the role of caretaker manager at Craven Cottage had been conducted appropriately and that Sanchez had given an undertaking with regard to his Northern Ireland contract.
Fulham had contacted the IFA to seek permission for Sanchez to take on the caretaker role, and Sanchez had then approached the IFA with regard to the short-term appointment.
Struggling Fulham have five remaining matches in the Barclays Premiership which finishes in May. Both the manager Chris Coleman, who had originally joined the club as a player in 1997, and assistant Steve Kean, were sacked on Tuesday evening.
In a statement the club said: "Chris Coleman has provided a fantastic service during his ten years at the club and it is disappointing that the club has no alternative but to part company."
Northern Ireland currently top their group in the Euro 2008 qualifiers and next play in August.

Work Underway For Free Hospital Parking In Northern Ireland
Work has begun at several hospital sites across Northern Ireland as part of the preparations for the introduction of free car parking in May 2026. Health and Social Care Trusts have been actively preparing for the implementation of a new traffic management system since the Hospital Parking Charges Act was passed in 2022.
