Teenager treated for eye injury

A teenager, who received an eye injury following an incident in the outskirts of south Belfast, has been taken to hospital for treatment.

It is understood the 15-year-old had been struck in the eye with a ball bearing.

The incident took place at around 6:30pm yesterday evening in the Gardenmore Road.

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw anything suspicious to contact them.

A new campaign to highlight the importance of eye health and the benefits of regular eye checks has been launched in pharmacies across Northern Ireland. The 'Look After Your Eyes' campaign is running in community pharmacies throughout April and May as part of the Living Well service.
