Man dies in Co Down road accident
A man has died following a road accident in Co Down this morning.
The accident occurred at around 6.30am on the A2 Belfast-Bangor dual carriageway near Holywood.
It is understood that the driver lost control of his vehicle and it ploughed into a tree on the verge of the carriageway. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
The road is closed and diversions are in place through the centre of Holywood. Police expect the diversions to remain for most of the day as they investigate the scene.
Police would like to hear from anyone who witnessed the accident, and are particularly keen to hear from a lorry driver who stopped to give assistance.

Over 800 young people from schools in Lisburn and Castlereagh attended a hard-hitting road safety message at the PSNI Road Safe Roadshow on 19 November. The roadshow, supported by AXA Insurance and the Northern Ireland Road Safety Partnership, aims to educate young drivers about the dangers of irresponsible driving.
