Madeleine vigil held in Downpatrick

A vigil has taken place in Downpatrick to show support for missing child Madeleine McCann.

Around 100 people joined the vigil held at Millennium Square at 7pm on Wednesday to pray for the four-year-old girl who has been missing for over two weeks while on a family holiday in Portugal.

Members of the crowd held posters of Madeleine and others lit candles during the 10 minutes silence, before saying a joint prayer.

Organiser of the vigil, Francis Morgan, asked for people to come together and pray for the girl’s safe return.

Around 1,000 posters had been sent to businesses across the province and more were handed out at the vigil.
