Parades body holds first meeting
Former Liberal Democrat leader Lord Paddy Ashdown is to meet with members of the new body set up to review parades in Northern Ireland today.
The Strategic Review Parading Body will hold its first meeting in Belfast and includes nationalist residents group spokesperson Sean Murray and Loyalist Commission Chairman Rev Mervyn Gibson.
First Minister Ian Paisley and Deputy First Minister Martin McGuinness will also join the review team.
Garvan O’Doherty, a businessman from Derry who played a key role in resolving a marching dispute in his city between nationalists and the Apprentice Boys, Mervyn Rankin, a former chief executive of Ballymena council, Sammy Douglas of the Belfast Interface Group and Geraldine McAteer of the West Belfast Partnership are among the members of the independent review.
The remit of the review team is to make recommendations on how parading can be taken forward in a way “consistent with the shared future objectives of respect, tolerance, responsible citizenship and promoting equality of opportunity and human rights.”

MLA Payrise Recommendation
As thousands across Northern Ireland face job uncertainty, an independent panel is expected to recommend that Northern Ireland's 108 Assembly members get a 3.5% pay rise, it has been revealed. However, the increase, of around £500 a year, is a lot less than previously predicted.

Presbyterian Leader Seeks Savers' Patience
The Moderator of the Presbyterian Church has called for continuing patience from those hit by the Presbyterian Mutual Society's collapse. He was commenting after PMS members again met to assess progress towards a resolution for those who remain unable to access their investments in the Society, which entered administration in October 2008.

SF hit out at DUP Forum participation
Sinn Féin's Pat Doherty has hit out at the DUP for sitting down on a West Belfast Parades Forum which allegedly includes members of paramilitary organisations. The West Tyrone MP said that the readiness of the DUP to sit alongside members of the UDA and UVF on the Forum showed the" sickening hypocrisy" of Ian Paisley's party.
