International cricket at Stormont promises corporate days
The newly refurbished Pavilion Complex at Stormont is playing host to the biggest ever cricketing festival in Ireland.
The venue, which has seen a £2 million modernisation in the past four years, is offering a platinum standard of corporate hospitality for a five match One Day International (ODI) series.
The first of these matches will feature Ireland v India on June 23. Ireland will then play World No 2 side South Africa on June 24. These will be followed by three ODI’s featuring South Africa v India on June 26, 29, and July 1. The five-day extravaganza, hosted by the Irish Cricket Union in conjunction with the Northern Ireland Civil Service Sports Association (NICSSA), hopes to attract over 35,000 spectators from across the world.
The General Manager of the Pavilion Complex, Kurt Courtney, said: “This is a unique and exciting opportunity for us to host this series of International matches.
"The popularity of Irish cricket is at a peak following the team’s success in the global ODI rankings represented and with three of the top ten teams in the World ODI league represented we can expect the very finest cricketing action. This event is the culmination of four years preparation by NICSSA and with the quality of play matched by an excellent corporate hospitality package we hope that this will be a spectacular sporting start to the summer on the site of government of the newly devolved Assembly.”
The Pavilion Complex at Stormont is a unique multi-function sports facility. The corporate hospitality package promises to be a real red carpet experience which will include match ticket and programme with premiere boundary seating enjoying panoramic view across the vista of the Stormont estate. The VIP treatment will also extend to breakfast on arrival, a champagne reception, five star gourmet lunch accompanied by fine wines and complimentary all day bar.
Dr Billy Hastings of Hastings Hotels is among those who welcomes the event: “Having attended last year’s hugely successful match at Stormont between Ireland and England I am very much looking forward to this years extended event. Isn’t it wonderful that a world class cricket venue is now right on our doorstep in East Belfast. I thoroughly enjoyed the event last year and can’t imagine a better way to spend an afternoon on a beautiful day. It makes this an unmissable highlight in the summer calendar for Northern Ireland."
