Teen jailed for west Belfast rape

A Belfast teenager accused of raping a 15-year-old schoolgirl in west Belfast has been jailed for eight years.

Michael Sean Quinn, 18, from Glasvey Drive in Twinbrook had originally denied raping the girl on 6 August 2005 in the Black’s Road area. However, on the second day of the trial he pleaded guilty to the attack as well as falsely imprisoning her and her three friends.

He also was charged with seven charges in total, including rape, indecent assault and false imprisonment. A 17-year-old also admitted false imprisonment and robbery.

Quinn had phoned the victim’s mother after the attack and said he had “enjoyed raping your girl”.

Two attacks took place, the first at the forecourt of a filling station and then at Colin Glen golf centre.

Mr Justice Harte said there was little evidence that Quinn felt any genuine remorse.
