The Killers to headline second ViTal night

Las Vegas-based indie rockers The Killers have been announced as the headline act of the second night of this year’s Tennent’s ViTal at Belfast’s Ormeau Park.

Joining The Killers on the Main Stage are Leicester lads Kasabisan at the outdoor music event on Wednesday 22 August.

The venue for this year’s event has been moved from Botanic Garden to allow for increased crowds.

Razorlight and Manic Street Preachers have already been unveiled as the acts heading the first night, and a number of acts for both dates are expected to be announced at a later date.

The Killers shot to fame with their audibly-British sounding debut album ‘Hot Fuss’ which earned them an army of fans, as well as critical acclaim. In 2006 their second record ‘Sam’s Town’ was equally as successful with a number of singles released including ‘When You Were Young’, ‘Bones’ and ‘Read My Mind.

The album achieved one million sales after just three months, and earned them the ‘Best International Band’ and ‘Best Album’ plaudits at the prestigious Brit Awards along with nominations at both the NME Awards and the Grammys.

Kasabian are one of the most impressive bands of recent years, melding rock with dancefloor breaks and beats. Their second release ‘Empire’ which spawned the widely-known anthems ‘Empire’ and ‘Shoot the Runner’, topped the charts and has secured their place at the forefront of the current crop of the stars on the UK music scene.

Tickets for Tennent’s ViTal are priced £38 for one day and £70 for two days. They go on sale this Friday 22 and are available from Virgin and all usual Ticketmaster outlets.
