Police officers to receive compensation
Many of the 5,000 officers suing the PSNI Chief Constable will be able to receive compensation for trauma.
The total compensation bill is expected to exceed £100 million making it the largest and longest ever running civil compensation action of its type in the UK.
At the High Court Mr Justice Coghlin's ruling on ten test cases said that due to "systematic failures in management of the force" the RUC and PSNI were liable.
The officers had claimed that they were not prepared for the experiences of the violence in Northern Ireland and that there were inadequate support procedures in place.
Giving evidence last year, former RUC Chief Constable Sir Ronnie Flanagan said that a welfare procedure was put in place after the force became aware of post traumatic stress disorder.
However, the case focused on the alleged failure of the authorities to deal properly with the known psychiatric conditions and psychological trauma of the nature of the officers' duties.

Code of ethics introduced for PSNI
A code of ethics for the PSNI was launched by the Policing Board today – the first such initiative for policing in the British Isles. The code sets out standards of conduct and practice for all PSNI officers and makes police officers aware of the rights and obligations arising out of the European Convention on Human Rights.

Alliance Calls For Compensation For Storm Éowyn Victims
Alliance Deputy Leader Eóin Tennyson has called for Northern Ireland Electricity (NIE) to provide compensation payments to households severely impacted by Storm Éowyn. The call comes after it emerged that almost 65,000 people remained without electricity on Monday morning, three days after the red weather warning was issued.

Changes Made To Blue Badge Rules For Service Personnel
Ulster Unionist Transport Minister, Danny Kennedy, has announced plans for automatic eligibility for a Blue Badge for Service Personnel in receipt of benefits under the Armed Forces Compensation Scheme. The Minister said: "Thousands of people all over Northern Ireland benefit from my Department's Blue Badge Scheme.

Ulster Bank Customers 'Put To Back Of RBS Queue'
RBS Group has been accused of putting Northern Ireland customers "to the back of the queue" as they face entering a third week of account problems at Ulster Bank. NI Shadow Secretary of State Vernon Coaker said the banking group, which owns Ulster Bank, had "serious questions" to answer for the way customers here have been treated.
