Explosion injures firefighter

An explosion at a derelict house in Newry has injured a firefighter.

The firecrew had arrived at the scene of a blaze in Sinclair Street when the explosion occurred.

Seven firefighters were taken to hospital suffering from shock. One of the crew who had a suspected concussion was kept in for observation but was later released.

The cause of the explosion is not yet been identified. The scene is being examined.

A man is currently in police custody following a dangerous driving pursuit and subsequent arrest on suspicion of multiple offences. The incident began in the early hours of Saturday, 16th November, when police received a report of an assault in the Listooder Park area of Saintfield.
