Two in court over Cork drugs haul
Two men have appeared in court today in connection with one of the biggest drugs hauls ever in Ireland.
Joe Daly, 40, of Bexley in Kent and Martin Wanden, 44, of no fixed address appeared at Skibbereen District Court this morning after nearly a tonne of cocaine in sealed packages was found in the sea off Mizen Head in County Cork a week ago.
They were both charged with the possession and possession for sale or supply of cocaine on 2 July at Dunlough Bay, Mizen, Goleen.
It is understood the drugs were worth an estimated 100 million euro and was discovered when an air-sea search was mounted for a number of men who were reported missing after a dinghy capsized off Mizen Head.
One man has already been charged, while another is currently being questioned at Bantry Garda Station.
Mr Daly and Mr Wanden were remanded in custody to appear again before court in Clonakilty on 17 July.

Extradited man denies murder
A 43-year-old Chinese man who was extradited from Hong Kong in connection with the death of a Chinese woman has denied murder. Wong Sui Ching appeared today at Belfast Magistrate’s Court charged with the murder of 29-year-old part-time waitress Ho Mi Ye. She had been found strangled at her home in Isoline Street in east Belfast in June 1998.

Fourth charged with Cork drugs haul
A fourth man has appeared in court today in connection with one of the biggest drugs hauls ever in Ireland. Perry Wharrie, 47, of an address at 60 Pryles Lane in Essex, appeared before Dunmanway District Court today charged with possession of cocaine for supply on July 2.
