Man recovering after stabbing
A man has received almost 40 stitches for slash wounds after he was attacked in County Londonderry.
Desmond McClements was attacked and received stab wounds to the chest and hands at his Rosseden Park home at around 11:30pm on Saturday night.
The victim had opened the door to the men who were armed with knives. They proceeded to push their way into the hall and stabbed the man before running off.
Mr McClements is being treated in hospital for serious stab wounds. However, his injuries are not thought to be life threatening.
The assailants are both described as being around 5ft 8ins tall. One has short dark hair and the other is of medium to stocky build with cropped mousy brown hair.
Detectives investigating the attack are working to establish a motive. They are appealing for anyone who may have information on the attack to contact them on: 0845 600 8000 or alternatively on the confidential Crimestoppers number on: 0800 555 111.

A man has sustained a head injury after being attacked by masked men in Co Antrim. The assault happened at a flat in the Upper Waterloo Road area of Larne at around 10pm on Monday, 14 May. The thugs beat the man with bats studded with nails. The victim also suffered puncture wounds to his body and had to be treated in hospital.

While several police officers have been injured after their vehicles were involved in 'an operation' in south Belfast, it has also emerged that a Translink employee, a bus engineer, was attacked last night with a hammer - inflicting wounds that required 67 stitches.

A fire at an unoccupied house in Portaferry, Co Down, is being treated as suspicious. The blaze, at a property in Ashmount Park, was reported just after 3am on Tuesday. It is believed police are continuing to establish a motive.
