Guns and drugs seized following fatal shooting

A substantial amount of drugs and firearms have been seized by gardaí during follow up searches relating to a fatal shooting of a 28-year-old man in Dublin during the weekend.

Kevin Ledwidge was shot in the chest at his home on Ratoath Drive in Finglas on Friday morning. He answered a call to his family home and was shot dead.

Irish police are currently searching for two men who fled the scene in a grey Opel Vectra, which was discovered, crashed, a short time later.

Eight homes have been raided in north and west Dublin and further searches will be carried out later today.

A sub-machine gun, a quantity of shotgun cartridges and a substantial quantity of drugs have so far been discovered.

It is understood the murder may be linked to a dispute over damaged property.

Police Hunt Gunman After Shot Fired
Police are hunting an armed man who fired a shot at a motorist over the weekend. The incident happened in the Pansy Street area of east Belfast at 1.20am on Saturday. The victim was approached by an armed male who fired one shot at him. The shot missed and the suspect fled the scene. The PSNI have appealed for information.

PSNI Appeal For Information About West Belfast Shooting
The PSNI have appeal for witnesses to or any one with any information about a shooting incident in west Belfast on Wednesday night. A man was shot in the leg at Creeslough Gardens at around 21:30 on Wednesday night. It is understood that victim is in his 40s and his injuries are not life threatening.

Searches Follow Met Cop Shooting Arrests
The PSNI has arrested two men following the shooting of a police officer in south Croydon earlier this month. On Wednesday evening the men, aged 20 and 26, were arrested at a house in south Belfast and a number of items were removed from the Lisburn Road premises for examination.
