£1m worth of criminal assets seized in NI
Police and customs seized more than £1 million worth of criminal assets in Northern Ireland between April and June this year.
Security Minister Paul Goggins said police and customs had recovered £207,000, which is 50% more cash than the same time last year.
The head of the Organised Crime Taskforce also said that officers were on course to confiscate more proceeds of crime.
The Assets Recovery Agency also secured more than £670,000 in orders and settlements with a further £2.5m worth of assets being put beyond the reach of individuals.
The minister said that they were sending out a clear message to organised criminals that they are determined to take back any money or assets that are gained through drug dealing or any other criminal activity.
The minister said the Organised Crime Task Force was committed to its job and recently police announced plans to appoint 60 financial investigators dedicated to fighting racketeering and other organised crime.
