Police Attacked In Londonderry

Police have again come under attack during disturbances in Londonderry on Thursday night.

Trouble broke out at about 8.00pm on Thursday in Magazine Street and no officers were injured.

Officers were confronted by a gang of youths throwing bricks and bottles and a number of parked vehicles were damaged during the trouble.

A police spokesperson said that 15-year-old youth will appear before the city’s Magistrates Court on Friday facing charges in connection to the incident.

Three police officers have been slightly injured after their car was rammed from behind by another vehicle early this morning. The incident occurred when police signalled a car to pull over on the Buncrana Road in Londonderry at around 3.20am.

Seven Police Officers Disciplined Over Pensioner's Death
Seven police officers have been disciplined over an investigation into the death of Lisburn man Jim Heasley in October 2010. The 70-year-old was assaulted as he walked home from Lagan Valley Pigeon Club. An investigation by the Police Ombudsman found a series of failings in the initial police response.
