Investigation Into Holiday Death Continues

Police are continuing an investigation into the death of an 18-year-old County Armagh man while on holiday in Crete.

Brendan McCoey, 18, from Cullyhanna was found at the bottom of a hotel swimming pool on the Mediterranean island on Sunday.

The teenager, who was a keen GAA player for a team in Cullyhanna, arrived on holiday with eight friends last Friday.

Mr McCoey’s family are awaiting post mortem results to establish how he died and Sinn Fein councillor Terry Herty, who knows the McCoey family, said the entire community of Cullyhanna was shocked.

The post mortem was carried out yesterday and his body will not be brought back for burial until the end of the week.
