Athlone Shearton To Create 250 Jobs
The construction of a new Sheraton Hotel in Athlone, Dublin is to create 250 jobs, it has been revealed.
The 12-storey hotel will be built as part of the 500 million euro Athlone Town Centre redevelopment project. It is backed by Kerry-born property developer John O’Sullivan and his family.
Mr O’Sullivan also owns the Hodson Bay Hotel in Athlone and the Galway Bay Hotel.
The Starwood Hotels and Resorts own Sheraton, and it also operates the Westin in Dublin and the Sheraton Fota Island in Cork.

A new scheme has been announced to highlight hundreds of new jobs in two of Belfast's newest hotels. Belfast City Council has teamed up with the Hastings Grand Central Hotel Belfast and the Dalata Hotel Group's Maldron Hotel Belfast City, both of which are due to open next year – to launch a new Hotel Employment Academy.

Around 1,000 jobs are being created today as a huge new landmark shopping centre is officially opened in Athlone. The €500m Athlone Town Centre development is being described as one of Europe's biggest rejuvenation projects. Around 1,000 people are to work at the centre, which includes shops, a hotel and more than 60 apartments.
