Ryanair Expand European Dublin Routes
Ryanair has announced its intention to launch six new European routes and base two new aircraft at Dublin from November 2007.
The announcement means the airline will deliver an extra one million passengers through Dublin airport due to increased frequencies on a further 12 routes to the UK and Europe, and bringing Ryanair’s total number of routes from Dublin to 81.
The company will invest 140 million euro in the two new aircraft and will sustain an additional 1,000 new jobs in North Dublin.
Ryanair’s announcement will challenge Aer Lingus as the increase is almost double the number served by its routes.
In total, Ryanair anticipate delivering 10 million passengers per year to and from Dublin, which is over 40% of the airport’s total traffic.
The announcement comes after Aer Lingus’ plans to controversially reroute flights from Shannon airport to Belfast.
Ryanair’s announcement of three routes (Budapest, Nice and Prague) already served by Aer Lingus, will further challenge the airline.
Ryanair’s Deputy CEO, Michael Cawley said: “The events of this past week confirm that Aer Lingus cannot be trusted or relied upon to secure access to or from the Republic of Ireland.”
Ryanair will also have new routes from Dublin to Basel, as well as Katowice and Szczecin in Poland.

Easyjet announce new Belfast routes to Berlin and Paris
Budget airline Easyjet has announced two new routes from Belfast International Airport to Italy and Germany. The routes, which are being supported by the Air Route Development Fund, will see a four day a week service run from Aldergrove to Rome and Berlin, from 1 July to 31 October 2005, and daily thereafter.
