Wexford closure leads to engineering job losses
Wexford-based Pierce's Engineering is to close with the loss of more than 40 jobs.
The company has been in negotiations with staff for the last five months over compensation for relocation to a nearby site, but employees recently voted to reject a pay offer recommended by the Labour Court.
A spokesman for parent company, Waterford Stanley, maintained there was no option other than to close the business.
He said that of the 62 workers employed by the company, approximately 18 would retain their jobs by moving to the parent company.
