Mobile Home Rapist To Be Released
A man who raped a 91-year-old woman will be released from prison within six weeks, despite posing a serious risk to the public.
Eamon Foley has served half of a 16-year sentence for the brutal rape of Mary-Anne McLaughlin back in January 1999.
Ms McLaughlin died a month after she was raped in her mobile home in Castlederg, Co Tyrone.
Foley still denies the crime and will be released because of the half-remission rule.
Forensic evidence ensured his conviction, after experts said the odds against his DNA belonging to anyone else was a billion to one.
A prison assessment panel has deemed him a high risk offender and a danger to girls, women and vulnerable adults.
