£600m Laganside Development Site Launched
A new eco-friendly £600 million Sirocco Quays redevelopment is to be launched today at a ceremony at the Laganside site.
The 16-acre waterfront site will be developed by the Carvill Group at the former engineering works, and it is being hailed as one of the most prestigious waterfront developments in Europe.
Christopher Carvill, Managing Director of The Carvill Group, said: "As one of the biggest developments of its kind, this exciting project will turn a former industrial corner of the city into a niche shopping and leisure venue, not to mention one of the UK's most vibrant investment opportunities.
"Enjoying centre stage in a unique city centre location - within strolling distance of restaurants and premier retail outlets, world-renowned cultural and historical sites - it's a flagship development and a gateway to the city."
He continued: "Today's launch marks the culmination of 18 months' research into the development of what is one of the city’s most important sites - research which has taken us throughout Europe.
"The development will incorporate cutting-edge design with environmental sustainability, taking building here and beyond to the next level, raising the bar in line with Government pledges towards carbon neutral housing and giving Belfast a new status within Europe."
The scheme will include a hotel, childcare facilities, a care home for the elderly and doctor’s surgery, a supermarket and retail units, as well as 2,000 apartments.
