Diver's Body Recovered Off Donegal Coast
The body of a diver who died while taking part in a dive off the Donegal coast on a sunken German U-boat has been recovered.
Father of four, Michael Hanrahan, 45, from Dublin was involved with filming of the wreck at Malin Head yesterday afternoon.
It is reported that the team of divers were making their way towards the surface when Mr Hanrahan appeared to collapse. They attempted to come to his aid but he died and his colleagues were unable to bring his body to the surface.
The submarine U-788, which was complete, but not see action during WWII, sank as it was being towed to Londonderry to be scrapped.
Derry City Council are assessing the wreck as part of a proposal to salvage the intact submarine and place it on display in the City.
