Stream axe 48 jobs at Londonderry call centre
The Londonderry branch of Stream International has announced that it is shedding 48 jobs.
Stream International, which operates a call centre in the city's Science and Technology Park, provides support services for technology companies.
The company which two years ago had made room for an extra 150 employees in May 2000, had predicted that by 2002 their total workforce at the plant would be around 650.
The company has blamed the global economic downturn for the reduction in numbers of employees in management and administrative support.
Stream added it was a difficult decision to cut the jobs, and that a voluntary redundancy programme would be put into operation.
The company currently employs 550 people locally.
