Talks Due On Aer Lingus Dispute
Management and unions at Aer Lingus are expected to attend talks arranged by the Labour Relations Commission this weekend in a bid to prevent a stoppage at the airline next week.
The company has given its 480 pilots until lunchtime on Monday to co-operate with the airline's new Belfast hub, or face being taken off the payroll.
Seven pilots have already been suspended for refusing to train staff.
Speaking on RTÉ's Prime Time programme last night, Aer Lingus Chief Executive Dermot Mannion declined to say whether the company would attend fresh talks.
He said there had to be a reasonable basis for substantive progress being made before management could agree to anything.

Ryanair Hits Out As Aer Lingus Takes Flight
The latest news on the controversal Aer Lingus move to a Belfast operation - closing the Shannon-Heathrow route - is that its biggest rival (and ironically, its biggest shareholder), Ryanair is to provide three additional daily flights to London from Shannon Airport to ensure capacity and traffic does not fall as a result of the closure.

Around 500 Aer Lingus pilots have announced plans to hold a 48-hour strike next week, in protest over plans to pay staff at the company's new Belfast operation less than those in the Irish Republic. The strike is due to be held next Tuesday and Wednesday and is expected to affect all the air routes run by Aer Lingus.

Belfast To Soar Above Aer Lingus Strike
