Mallusk-based office supplies company marks double celebration
Denis Smyth Office Supplies and Business Furniture have recently celebrated their twentieth year in the business.
However, a double celebration is in order as the Mallusk-based company have been awarded an ISO 14001 for their environmental management system by SGS Yarsley Certification Services – a first for this business sector in Northern Ireland.
The system was implemented by Pamela Smyth, a partner of the company, in conjunction with Ashley Hurst on behalf of Hamilton Manaagement Solutions and was grant aided by Invest Northern Ireland.
The company's co-founder Denis Smyth said: "Since we first started in business the market has changed greatly, not just in the items customers purchase but in the way they place their orders and the high standards of service that they expect.
"Twenty years ago e-mails, faxes, and mobile phones were virtually unheard of and most people's idea of a modern office was a mahogany desk and a chair covered in peat or charcoal fabric.
"Nowadays, customers want ergonomically designed workstations and chairs in fashionable wood finishes and colourful fabrics, thus providing a more pleasant working environment for their staff because we must remember that people are the company's most important asset and it makes good sense to take good care of them.
"Companies also want better controls over their budgets and this we can offer through our Webalogue online ordering and reporting systems which is tailored to the customers individual needs."
The company which employs 22 people are the sole member of the office Smart Marketing Group and have a website at www.denissmythofficesupplies.com.
