Larne couple told to leave area within 24 hours

An armed gang which forced their way into a house in Larne has ordered a Protestant man and his Catholic girlfriend to leave the area within 24 hours.

At around 11pm last night a masked gang forced their way into the couple's home on the loyalist Craigyhill estate in Larne.

An armed man put a gun to the couple's heads and ordered them to leave Larne within 24 hours.

The gang then proceeded to smash the front bedroom and back windows, before finally kicking the front door down.

The man and his girlfriend, a Catholic mother of four, said they did not plan to stay in the town.

Condemning the attack, East Antrim MLA, Roy Beggs Jr, said: "Vigilantism must be condemned whether it be in the form of threatening the lives of people in Larne or kangaroo courts and shootings in Strabane."

Mr Beggs said that those responsible were despots who are anti-democratic and who were creating more injustice.
