Robbers Target Glenavy Couple's Home

A couple have been held at gunpoint during an armed robbery at their home in Glenavy.

Police have reported that three men armed with a handgun and sledgehammer broke into their house on the Carnkilly Road at about 7pm on Thursday.

One of them pointed a gun at the man's head and demanded money. The robbers took a small amount of cash from the householder's wallet before stealing the couple's car.

The car was later found burnt out in west Belfast.

The man and woman were reported to be extremely shaken by their ordeal.

Police have appealed for anyone with information to contact them.

They are particularly interested in the movements of the robbers' silver car and are also following a line of investigation that may link the robbery with another one, committed in Lisburn.
